Clos du Moulin aux Moines

The Clos du Moulin aux Moines is one of those magical estates in Burgundy, surrounded by vines and full of history. Taken over in 2008, this estate continues to gain in precision vintage after vintage. Its particularity: three monopolies divided into AOC Bourgogne, Auxey-Duresses, and Pommard. Located southwest of Beaune, in Auxey-Duresses, the Clos du Moulin aux Moines was founded in 962 by monks from the powerful Cluny Abbey. A dependency of the abbey, it initially shared its activity between a grain mill and a grape press. For centuries, the estate was successively owned by local families. Over time, the place lost its power and fell into disuse until the domain was taken over in 2008. At the time, the domain extended over eight hectares (against 15.5 today). Willy Roulendes
joins the estate after having studied at the De Montille estate. It starts from scratch (no stock or leftover materials from the previous domain). Only a few concrete vats have survived. He can thus bring his paw from the start. Willy began the conversion to organic farming with a first certified vintage in 2011. 10 years later, the 2021 vintage is certified biodynamic.
