Dugat-Py

While it's considered 'larger,' it falls short of being truly 'large.' With a range of over 30 wines cultivated from just 15 hectares, scarcity is inevitable. However, the 2022 vintage heralds the inception of a new venture, Dugat-Py Vinificateur. Here, Loïc Dugat fulfills a long-standing aspiration to vinify some of the esteemed white wine terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. Within the domaine's 15 hectares lie four prestigious grands crus: Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, and Mazoyères-Chambertin. The estate boasts vines labeled as "Très Vieilles Vignes," honoring vines that have aged well over a century. The average vine age across the estate exceeds 70 years. Located in the historic heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, at the base of the Combe de Lavaux, Dugat-Py ages its wines in the enchanting vaulted cellars dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. Loïc's recent endeavors in the vineyard and cellar are as  noteworthy as the family's historical presence in the village. Starting from the 2018 vintage, the estate has gradually implemented a high-trellised tressage vine training system, significantly altering the wines' tannic character. Loïc, adopting a different approach from his father, now opts for earlier harvesting. Amphora vinification has discreetly made its way into several cuvées in the cellar. White wines have been sealed with Diam 30 corks since 2019, while reds retain natural cork closures. The domaine has been organic since 2003, following the lunar calendar for both vineyard practices and cellar activities. These step-by-step enhancements reflect a commitment to meticulous craftsmanship and continuous improvement within the estate's winemaking practices
