Domaine René Engel (Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy)

Founded in 1919 in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine René Engel became a benchmark of Burgundy elegance and authenticity. Across three generations — René, Pierre, and Philippe Engel — the estate crafted some of the most admired Pinot Noirs from grands crus such as Grands-Échezeaux, Clos Vougeot, and Échezeaux. The untimely passing of Philippe Engel in 2005 marked the end of the domaine, later absorbed by Domaine d’Eugénie. Today, bottles of René Engel are prized collector’s treasures, celebrated for their purity, finesse, and the soul of true Vosne-Romanée.
